Las Vegas is Becoming the New Hollywood, 2.0 That Is

With its glitzy casinos, world-class entertainment, and vibrant nightlife, Las Vegas has long been synonymous with showbiz extravagance. Now, teaming up with Sony and Howard Hughes Holdings, actor Mark Wahlberg is taking the city's allure to new heights by bringing Hollywood 2.0 directly to Las Vegas. The studio complex, dubbed "Wahlberg Studios Vegas," will feature sound stages, production facilities, and post-production suites, providing a one-stop-shop for filmmakers looking to bring their visions to life.  The city recently approved plans to build the $1.8 billion dollar studio in Summerlin bringing an estimated 10,000 jobs to Las Vegas.  

If you haven't noticed, Mark Wahlberg has quickly become one of Las Vegas's biggest fans.  When asked why Las Vegas Wahlberg says, "when I moved here, I brought maybe 15 to 20 people along that work with me.  They came from 3-bedroom houses in CA that they were struggling to pay rent, now they have 5 and 6-bedrooms homes in Las Vegas that are half of the cost. They're in gated communities, they walk their dogs and have schools within a few blocks.  It's just a much better lifestyle here in Las Vegas." 

The property site on Flamingo and Town Center Drive will be home to a total of 13 structures for filming and producing. During the vote, details emerged that included production offices, prop building locations, stage equipment storage, indoor stages, and more. They even showed renderings of a building that will be four stories high and reach about 79 feet, according 8NewsNow.
